STATEMENT:

A typical four person household in the Bay Area and Sacramento region uses 194,180 gallons of water every year, with 50-60% for irrigation. Our Hydro Literate Landscape is designed to shift that paradigm.

This site’s native vegetation, fruit trees, and productive vegetable gardens are grown solely with the 76,406 gallons of water collected on site. All 51,342 gallons of rainwater that fall on site are collected into cisterns or contoured, vegetated rain gardens. 25,064 gallons of gray water supplement the needs of fruit trees and perennials. Together they create food, beauty, and reconnect the owners to the local hydrological cycle.
